Sérieux, je trouve que c'est la classe d'être comparé à Arjen Lucassen, ça fait plaisir de voir que Fairyland est enfin sorti des "Bah c'est du Rhapsody en différent quoi" et ce genre de commentaires. So he’s in fact the Ayreon of power metal.

The new Fairyland album Score To A New Beginning, is my first acquaintance with Fairyland`s music. Symphonic metal is Fairyland`s main style, with inputs of power metal and some progressive elements. The opener is called Opening Credits, a short intro with a huge symphonic arrangement that leads us to the next song Across The Endless Sea (part II). A fast symphonic song where Marco Sandron (Phatosray) and Georg Neuhauser (Serenity) take care of the vocals, and these guys really sound awesome! Assault On The Shore is more the style I prefer, a more melodic fine song with a huge refrain! The instrumentation is really entertaining with a lot of cool details on the keys, a cool guitar solo and the choir in the chorus parts sounds amazing! Master Of The Waves opens symphonic, a darker sounding song and I like the switch between the female and male vocals in this. The song reach the top in the chorus parts with choir and a very rememberable sing a long melody. A Soldier`s Letter starts with piano, a more emotional song with a lot of nice instrumental details and fine vocals. You will also notice the keys and guitar solo in this. Godsent is one of my favorite tracks, it has a little of all the ingredients in Fairyland`s music. The switches between the more melodic metal style to the more up tempo symphonic metal oriented is cool. Also here the symphonic arrangement is top notch, and the choirs and instrumentation takes the song to a high level. At The Gates Of Morken is a fast track, and the keys play a big part in this. An interesting song that I feel grow the more I hear it. Rise Of The Giants starts with church bells and marching drums. This symphonic instrumental masterpiece of a song is delicately arranged, and its just to sit back and enjoy and relax! The titletrack Score To A new Beginning also opens very symphonic, the melodic vocal lines is very addictive and the way the song builds up to the huge chorus is really entertaining. The nine minute long song is absolute one of the strongest on the album, and if you`re a fan of symphonic metal I think this song is a perfect example of how symphonic metal shall sound! The last song is called End Credits, and is a beautiful touching song sung by Flora Spinelli (Kerion). A song that can be compared to a piece from a musical or opera, and who make a fine end to this fine album. My first acquaintance with Fairyland has been a very entertaining, so I will definitely check out more about this band, and it will also be a pleasure to follow them in the future! 96/100
