Official statement November 2007
This year has seen lots of things happening to Fairyland, both good and bad.
Of course, the highlights are mostly the release of "The Fall Of An Empire" through Napalm Records and Avalon Marquee, and the successful April tour with Kamelot and Leaves' Eyes. I can never thank them enough for their kindness.
On the other hand, a chaos-theory-like chain of events has led to four members leaving Fairyland, to form their own project. They've made their choice, and no more will be said about that. Good luck to them.
Now, for Fairyland's present and future...
Thanks to Intromental Management, all of Fairyland's business partners have expressed their faith in the project. After many discussions, I've decided to turn Fairyland into a "solo" project, meaning that there will be no more permanent line-up. I will continue on being the main songwriter, also overseeing all the aspects of this venture.
This Modus Operandi will allow me to concentrate on the music, and not encumber myself with personal issues from other members. Many guest musicians will come and bring their help to the project, hopefully leading to a fruitful cooperation. Among them will be singer Marco Sandron and bassist Fabio d'Amore from Italian prog/power band Pathosray, Lars F. Larsen from Danish band Manticora, Elisa C. Martin from Spanish band Dreamaker (yes, the vocalist from the first Fairyland album), and many more...
The new album will be named "Score To A New Beginning", and will include 10 tracks, if nothing changes until then. The cover artwork and booklet illustrations will once again be crafted by Gonzalo "Genzo" Ordonez Arias, who was responsible for the art of "The Fall Of An Empire".
Although "Score To A New Beginning" will give reminiscences of Fairyland's first two albums, it will also mark a new turn in the band's evolution. The riffs are more progressive yet melodic, and the overall development of the songs is more friendly than before, taking its richness from the riffs themselves instead of a complex structure. Of course, this doesn't mean I've been lazy. It's just that I've been working to make the new songs more efficient and direct.
Let the fans be comforted, the elements that make Fairyland will still be overly present, with strong keyboards support, heavy choirs, catchy solos and sing-along choruses. I'm more than eager to present this new release...
So, in a few days I'll be off to Venice (IT), where I'll be supervising the vocal recordings for the demo version of "Score To A New Beginning" with Fabio d'Amore and Marco Sandron. Meanwhile, we'll get everything fixed for the pre-production of the album in its final form.
If the studio planning fits, "Score To A New Beginning" will be released around mid-2008.
Thanks for reading, and see you all very soon!

Dear Phil,
here ist Julia from Germany and my english lessons in school
are long ago.
However I wish to inform you about my feelings.
Please excuse me for my mistakes!
A few days ago I discovered your band Fairyland.
I bought your two CDs "blind" at Amazon and since then I hear nothing else!
It was some of the best music I ever heard.
You are an ingenious composer.
And Max Leclercq on "The fall of an empire" is one of the impressive singers of the world.
Congratulations and many many thanks for such fantastic music!
Now I read your band will become a band of changing guest musicians.
I unterstand your decision very well. You want to concentrate on writing good music and not on
building and holding band.
But I´m also a little bit worried because I think a band of changing musicians never goes on tour.
It´s similar to Avantasia, one of my favourite bands.
And something else: I hope you never change your unique distinctive style!!!
There are only a few metal bands where you can hear all songs of a CD with the same enthusiasm.
You are on of this bands.
Your CDs are all of a piece, that ist rare in metal world.
Please retain this talent, it is precious!
Good luck and all the best, Phil!
Love, Julia

i've been looking for a while now and haven't been able to find this. in 'Look into Lost Years' what language is Maxime singing in. i know partially it is in english, but what is the rest? i've been looking but i haven't even been able to find any lyrics on it.

Re: Official statement November 2007
hi.
It's not Max singing on Look Into Lost years, but Flora Spinelli from Kerion.
For the lyrics, they are half english, half Osyrhian (a language I created for Fairyland).
here are the lyrics:
Ado shara imbesi derio
Are dosi pariso dal'Arel
Lio deren assa li mehena
Ore del Osyrhia
When life was sweet and feelings weren't lost
when all was clear like dawn on Dal'Arel
The thought of you forever in my heart
My sister of the light

Re: Official statement November 2007
hi Philippe,
I'm really exited to hear about the plans for your new album. I'm starting out as an illustrator in the uk, mostly doing fantasy art, and I find your music so inspirational to work to. The keyboard work is absolutly fantastic and works so well with the vocals of the albums.
I also wondered what Osyrhia is- is it a Country?
Keep up the inspirational work,
Bethan

Re: Official statement November 2007
I'm wondering what the Osyrhian part means. For the structure, it seems possible that the English paragraph were the actual translation (these references to Dal'Arel at the end of the second verses look suspicious, but "My sister of the light" doesn't seem to include the reference to Osyrhia), but there is no way to know for sure.Phil_Giordana wrote:

BTW, is there any public source I could use to learn some Osyrhian? I think it'd be a good addition to my current skills on Quenya and Sindarin ^^

Re: Official statement November 2007
Yep, it's the (lousy) translation. Osyrhia means "the Light", "The shinning".
For sources about learning Osyrhian, nothing yet, it's still a work in progress. sorry...
But I did a font for the language. if I can put my hand on it, I'll let you know

Re: Official statement November 2007
I'm wondering, do you have specific grammar rules set up, or is it a little more situational for certain meanings?

Re: Official statement November 2007
Finally, the composition of "Score to A New Beginning" is over. The demo version is being finalized and I will spend yet another session in Venice by mid-june to record the pre-production vocals. Intromental Management is actively negotiating with Fairyland's labels to prepare the final recording. If all goes well, we can hope for a release by the end of 2008...
